Seattle, meet your 2009-2010 Zubatto Syndicate!

After months of work and planning shrouded in secrecy, I am finally ready to introduce you (the World) to my new band, Zubatto Syndicate! ZS is a mammoth band, but not quite a Big Band, at least not in the traditional sense. For one thing, it's got more than your RDA of woodwinds - oboe, clarinet, bass clarinet, bassoon, alto and tenor sax. Additionally, the music I've written for this group owes as much to rock, punk, hip-hop, funk and other music that is important to me as it does to jazz. The music is all new, written with the support of the City of Seattle, for which I am incredibly grateful. It's going to be a glorious racket!
I will have updates on the project in the coming weeks, as the music is finished, the rehearsals start and things really start to happen.
The lineup is:
Zubatto Syndicate is:
Byron Vannoy - drums
Chris Stover - trombone
Greg Sinibaldi - bass clarinet and tenor saxophone
Francine Peterson - bassoon
Chad McCullough - trumpet
Taina Karr - oboe and English horn
Jon Hamar - bass
Mack Grout - keys
Clark Gibson - alto saxophone
Jim DeJoie - baritone saxophone
Jesse Canterbury - clarinet
Andrew Boscardin - guitar
Zubatto Syndicate makes its debut at Town Hall on November 5, 2009 at 8pm. I hope you will be there!
The concert is presented with support from the City of Seattle Office of Arts and Cultural Affairs.
